This was after a two-week suspension since December 21, 2020 as a precautionary measure following the detection of new mutated type of the Covid-19 virus in a number of countries specially in United Kingdom.

Riyadh has suspended all international flights and entry through land crossings and ports on December 21, 2020. which resulted in the halt of foreign domestic helper employment in the country.

Despite the lifting of travel suspension, the following restrictions remain in place:

  1. Non-Saudi nationals coming from the UK, South Africa and other countries where the Covid-19 variant had been detected are required to stay for at least 14 days out out of these countries before entering the Kingdom.
  2. Saudi Citizens who are allowed to enter for humanitarian and essential cases, coming from countries where the new Covid-19 variant spread, are required to remain in their homes for 14 days for observation.
